Helen Dorothy Short, 85, of Royalton, Illinois passed away at 9:42 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at her home.Dorothy was born March 8, 1931 in Royalton to John and Antonina (Pazereskas) Baltrusis.She married Richard Harvey Short in December 1, 1956 in Royalton.  They met in Chicago while she was working for the Jm. Company, W. A. Alexandria as a bookkeeper.  He preceded her in death July 25, 2014.She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen Short of Tunnel Hill, David and Lisa Short of Royalton; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Mark Ochenski of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Amber Rivers of Alto Pass, Krystal Kincaid of Kyle, TX, Stephanie (Jacob) Bushno of Carbondale, Samantha Short of Austin, TX, Eric Drewett and Shaw Ochenski both of St.  Louis, MO and Nicole and Connor Short of Royalton; three great grandchildren, Cameron Jones, Zeriah Kincaid and Alistair Rivers; a brother, Bart Baltrusis of Royalton and several nieces and nephews.Her parents; two brothers, John and Sam Baltrusis and five sisters, Mary Baltrusis, Ann Norbut, Frieda Sich, Eva Kuhnke and Frances Baltrusis preceded her in death.Mrs. Short was a member of the St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Ann's Sodality in Royalton.  She belonged to the National Association of Postal Supervisors and retired as a Postmaster at the Pittsburg, Illinois post office.Dorothy loved having her family at her home, cooking for her children and grandchildren.  She always had a smile and never met a stranger.  She was an avid Cardinals baseball fan and loved her crossword puzzles.Funeral services for Mrs. Short will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Church in Royalton with Father Eusebius Mbidoaka officiating.  Burial will be at the St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Cemetery east of Royalton.  Visiting hours are from 5 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton where a prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m.In lieu of flower, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Short are suggested to Muscular Dystrophy Association, (www.mda.org), 13801 Riverport Drive, #303, Maryland Heights, MO 63043.  Visit www.vantreasefuneralhome.com for more information and to sign the online register book. <h3>Events</h3> Visitation December 21, 2016, 5:00 pm December 21, 2016, 8:00 pm Vantrease - Zeigler 101 Wilcox Avenue Zeigler, IL 62999 Email: tvanbills@gmail.com Service December 22, 2016, 10:00 am December 22, 2016, 12:00 am St. Aloyius-Sacred Heart Catholic Church 100 South Pecan Street, Royalton, Illinois 62983 , Graveside December 22, 2016, 11:15 am December 22, 2016, 12:00 am St. Aloyius-Sacred Heart Cemetery Route 149 East, Royalton, Illinois 62983
