A fast-moving fire gutted a two-story house and damaged a neighboring home in Union Sunday morning. Heavy fire broke out at 635 Thoreau Terrace at approximately 10:55 a.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they battled massive flames that tore through the upper level of the home. Nearby residents called in the fire after seeing smoke billow from the unoccupied home. After a search of the residence, firefighters found no trapped or injured occupants. Hillside, Union, and Springfield were some of the fire companies that provided mutual aid.
