Rayleigh discovered that when particles in the air collide with the sun's light, they scatter these wavelengths in all directions. However, some of these wavelengths are scattered more intensely than other wavelengths.
Science gets a bad rep for being boring, difficult and for very smart people (see: nerds). But that doesn't have to be the case.
